The
Ecole Supérieure et Internationale de Gestion (ESIG)
located in Aïntoura - Kesrouan organized its third
graduation ceremony
in the presence of the ambassador of Canada in
Lebanon HE Louis de Lorimier, the Archbishop of
Sarba His Lordship Guy Boulos Njeim, the Rector of
the Holy Spirit University father Antoine Ahmar, the
director of the Orfan schools Sheik Sami Abou Al
Mona, General Elia Francis representing the general
manager of the Interior Security Forces Major
General Achraf Rifi, Mr. Fadi Barakat representing
MP General Michel Aoun, Mr. Rophael Maroun
representing the minister Mr. Pierre Gemayel, Dr.
Elie Yachoui from Notre Dame University, the
administrative inspector Leila Majdalani, Dr. Michel
Bédard representing the University of Quebec at
Montreal (UQAM), Dr. Eric Lamarque representing the
University of Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV in France, the
director of the Jounieh division Antoine Boustany,
as well as a large number of directors of official
schools, parents, guests and friends.
The ceremony began with the Canadian, French and
Lebanese national anthems played by the members of
the security forces. The director of studies Mr.
George Kho ury
pronounced a welcoming speech insisting on the
quality of the degrees ESIG takes care each day of
strengthening i.e. the relevance compared to the
labor market, in particular, and the economy, in
general, and, especially, the value in the society
of knowledge.
Then, Dr. Michel Bédard congratulated the students
wishing them a continuous success in their life. "If
you come to Montreal, you will be most welcome; for
UQAM and the School of business administration trust
you and count on you so that you maintain the
reputation they carved during the past years. I
personally invite you to keep the contact with them
and remain always faithful to them". He added: "You
have the right to take pride in your Canadian
diploma, which more, is signed by the University of
Quebec at Montreal, a diploma recognized on the
international scale. On the other hand, I would like
to mention the contribution of the ESIG authorities
in obtaining your diploma. It is thanks to their
entrepreneurship, their pride with regard to the
Lebanese environment and their eagerness to open
large all the doors of knowledge to the Lebanese
youth eager to put forward their talents".

In his turn, Dr. Eric Lamarque the representative of
the University of Montesquieu - Bordeaux IV
delivered his speech in which he said: "I would like
to express the happiness of being with you for this
first graduation of the ESIG and the University of
Montesquieu - Bordeaux IV students. When we chose
this university to delocalize our Master in
Financial Management in Lebanon, we found attentive
persons in charge, concerned by the quality of the
program, quality of the speakers and ready to answer
our requirements as regards the selection of
students, but also ready not to graduate the
students when those do not satisfy our criteria of
success. The Master in Financial Management was
chosen as one of the best three French university
programs of the same specialization and among the
best 10 if counting the equivalent diplomas in well
known schools like HEC or ESSEC". Addressing the
graduates, he congratulated them for their success,
adding: "Success and future can be assured only if
three conditions are met: an effective
administration, powerful teachers and active
students-graduates. We implemented the first two
conditions.
Implementing the third is up to you".
The Archbishop of Sarba His Lordship Guy Boulos
Njeim spoke addressing the students a word of hope
in these dark circumstances the country and the
whole area know. "Some among you think of traveling,
others intend to stay. Whatever you decide, whatever
you make after obtaining your degree, do not forget
that you are carrying a noble mission. You were
armed, in this place, thanks to your parents and
your teachers, of knowledge, so that you can reflect
on your environment the dynamism, the goodness and
the peace you carry in you". Addressing the Dean Abi
Nakhlé: "The university you founded is a work of
great human value. Since knowledge, as you offer it
in partnership with well established French and
Canadian universities which are in direct relation
with Lebanon through the Francophonie, is an
invaluable treasure. You continue to offer it in
spite of all the difficulties which faced and still
face you. May God come to your assistance so that
you propose, in addition to knowledge, principles of
wisdom by the words, acts and love".
The ESIG Dean, Mr. Rony Abi Nakhlé, delivered a
speech of faith a nd firmness in the ESIG position,
and a promise of always seeking the best. He
congratulated the graduates for their achievements
and the distinguished academic level they reached.
He then invited them to always be the ambassadors of
brilliance and creativity, undertaking that ESIG was
and will be true to the principles that guided its
way namely the principles of distinction, uniqueness
and
academic quality. "Through the confidence you
invested in us and your support, we characterized
ourselves by the programs and curricula of
excellence, as by the distinguished place we carved
among the established old universities. Therefore,
we affirm to the whole world that this young
institution is worthy to build the coming
generations o n education, values, innovation and
excellence so that Lebanon will truly remain the
headlight of the East".
Thereafter, the first of promotions Viviane El Kareh,
Patrick Khalil and Levon Kahvedjian pronounced their
word. The ceremony was strewn by musical interludes
played by the members of the security forces. Then,

capable of teaching Men to be open to others and to
accept the differences of everyone, which is an
essential principle to follow in a country like
Lebanon". She added: "each time young students will
enter this conference room, they will remember
Gebran, they will remember the one who gave
everything, his life, so the Lebanese new
generations may benefit from a promising future";
assuring that "those who thought that, by killing
Gebran, they killed his thoughts and dreams, have
failed to do so".
At the end, everybody had lunch at the ESIG

On the occasion of Saint
Marguerite Bourgeoys’s day, a mass on the intention
of the martyr Gebran Tuéni was celebrated at ESIG
|
|
On the
invitation of the ESIG administration, Aïntoura -
Kesrouan and on the occasion of Saint Marguerite
Bourgeoys’s day, the ESIG patron saint, a mass was
celebrated on the intention of the martyr MP Gebran
Tuéni. Father Joseph Tohmé chaired the mass to which
were present the Dean Rony Abi Nakhlé, the
administrative staff, professors, students as well
as a number of cultural, social and media figures.
In his sermon, father Tohmé affirmed that:
"Testifying to the truth is the true mean of
self-sacrifice, which is the characteristic of the
free, courageous and honest man; a characteristic
that applies well to the martyr of Lebanon, the
martyr of the free word who fears neither death nor
darkness, the martyr of dignity, freedom and
independence. We all know Gebran Tuéni, carrying his
rosary in a hand and his pen in the other, his eyes
sparkling with hope, his heart gushing of a faith in
the truth and the law which will triumph
incontestably over the darkness as deep as it may
be".
He added: "We all are Gebran, every man of faith is
Gebran, every sincere and noble man is Gebran, and
every honest man is Gebran. Do not be afraid! Do not
be afraid of the assassin of the body but of the
assassin of the spirit. Follow the path of the
truth, it is the only path to free you and lead you
straight to light, hope and life ".
At the end of the mass, an olive tree offered by the
Al Tayyar students and bearing the name of "the
Olive tree of the martyr MP Gebran Tuéni" was
planted on the ESIG campus.

Dr. Ahmad Jamal held a
conference at ESIG
on the reality and future of higher education |
|
On the invitation of the Ecole Supérieure et
Internationale de Gestion (ESIG), Dr. Ahmad Al
Jammal, the
General
Manager of Higher Education in Lebanon, held a
conference entitled: "Higher Education in Lebanon:
reality and visions". The audience comprised a large
number of key figures in the fields of education and
culture, the ESIG directors of departments, the
directors of the official and private schools.
First, Dr. Al Jammal thanked the hosts for this
praiseworthy initiative, congratulating the Ecole
Supérieure et Internationale de Gestion (ESIG) on
the various achievements made in such a short time.
He then stated the reality of higher education and
the innovations that occurred on the levels of the
newly-established university institutions, the
programs and curricula, the special attention of the
administration of higher education, the observation
of the rules in force, the respect of the standards
in order to go hand in hand with modern life and to
have Lebanon of yesteryear, “the University of the
East par excellence”.
In fact, Dr. Al Jammal trea ted
the reality of the newly-established institutions
and university institutes, subjecting them to a
detailed examination. He indicated the contravening
institutions due to their illegal state and their
non-observance of the rules and standards in force.
On the other hand, he spoke highly of the new
institutions, ESIG at their head, which worked
unceasingly under the aegis of the law, done
significant achievements on the scientific and
academic levels and reached the required quality in
all fields.
He then gave credit to the work and role of the
Technical Commissions charged by the Ministry of
Higher Education with carrying out field studies and
investigations embracing all the institutions, old
and new. While mentioning the report prepared by the
Swiss Committee of inquiry SGS on ESIG, Dr. Al Jamm al
congratulated ESIG which applies the vast majority
of the standards initially adopted to evaluate the
work of these institutions. Broaching the question
of equivalences of the Research and Executive
Master’s degrees delivered by ESIG, he reassured
that they will be issued in the near future; noting
that this delay is due to the routine and
administrative procedures in the Ministry and that
ESIG is in the vanguard of all the institutions
worthy of obtaining these equivalences.
In answer to a question about the concept of
"decision in principle" according to which
equivalences are granted, Dr. Al Jammal explained
that all the decisions are issued under this
nomination for all the universities without
exception. This drives these institutions to
permanently work in order to reach the best since
they are constantly subjected to the State control.
Another question treated the distinction between the
university institutes and universities, Dr. Al
Jammal confirmed that there is no difference between
the two types of institutions on neither the degree
level nor the quality of that degree. The university
is dist inguished
from the university institute only by the fact that
it must include 3 faculties at least. In this
respect, he mentioned the partnership of ESIG with
large universities: the University of Quebec at
Montreal (UQAM) and the University of Montesquieu -
Bordeaux IV. Answering a question related to the
transformation of ESIG into a University LCU, Dr. Al
Jammal clarified that this file meets all the legal
conditions and is listed on the Council of the
Higher Education’s agenda on its first meeting.
Considering the specifications and characteristics,
this file augurs well.
At the end, the Dean Mr. Rony Abi Nakhlé thanked Dr.
Ahmad Al Jammal for this esteemed meeting which shed
light upon the reality of higher education
courageously, frankly and expressly, praising his
transparency in the treatment of various questions
and thanked him for his cooperation and the special
attention he pays to the improvement and
reinforcement of higher education in Lebanon in
order to make Lebanon regain its title "the
University of the East par excellence ". A reception
followed the meeting.

Under
the high patronage of the “Agence Universitaire de
l a Francophonie” (AUF), the students of the Ecole
Supérieure et Internationale de Gestion (ESIG) of
Aïntoura - Kesrouan organized an "Open Doors" event
to which participated many commercial and banking
institutions. This event allowed the school students
who flowed from all over the country to discover the
ESIG current and future programs of studies,
buildings and modern technological infrastructure.
An opening ceremony was organized, during which the
Director of Studies, Mr. Georges Khoury, delivered a
welcoming speech followed by the ESIG marketing
professor, Dr. Fouad Chouei faty who praised the
students’ serious work and quality activities. As
for him, the Dean, Mr. Rony Abi Nakhlé, paid tribute
to the dynamic role the AUF plays in Lebanon and
stressed the deep belonging feeling the ESIG has
towards the large French-speaking family. He also
confirmed that ESIG will always work to maintain
this cooperation and to constantly improve the
quality of its programs since "it is the only way
that will lead our promising institution to achieve
its goals of excellence".
Finally, the regional manager of the AUF Middle-East
Office, Mr. Michel Bennasar greeted the affiliation
of ESIG at the aforementioned
agency noting that
"this institution firmly established its position
among the large French-speaking universities members
of AUF in spite of its youth. That was possible only
through the quality curricula and programs, the
academic level, and the respect of the standards and
regulations in force. Therefore, I am completely
convinced that this institution will obtain in the
near future, the decree of "baptism" in the name of
the Lebanese Canadian University (LCU) it well
deserves considering the challenge it confidently
and surely took up in such a short time".
